Adult Art Classes
BUTTERFLY STUDIO, MONTEBELLO WEDNESDAYS MORNINGS: Bridget Simons is a practising artist with many years of teaching experience at schools and tertiary institutions. Bridget was awarded an MFA cum laude in painting from the Michaelis School of Fine Art, UCT in 2013. In addition to painting in oil paints, watercolours and ink, she produces work in mixed media. One of her works in mixed media is part of the permanent collection of the South African National Gallery. Her work is represented in private collections in South Africa, Europe, the UK, Australia and the United States of America. Galleries in the Cape area have hosted solo exhibitions of her work and she held a solo exhibition of her work in Vienna. In addition, her work has featured in group shows in Windhoek and in Cape Town. Bridget is skilled in encouraging aspirant artists to gain confidence in their own creative expression by developing their talents in drawing and painting. Adult Creativity/Art ClassesBUTTERFLY STUDIO, MONTEBELLO WEDNESDAY EVENINGS: I am a practicing artist and teacher, with an MAFA, a BAFA, a Hon in Curatorship and an Art Therapy Foundation course. I offer adult evening classes, where you can experience the unfolding of a unique process, in a safe space with an experienced person to guide you. I teach you to look and think a little differently, whilst sharing techniques and media using various mark making exercises giving you the tools to develop your own creative language. I see art as an anchor in a choppy sea; helping with focus, staying present and giving you a voice that is unique to your narrative. It can be an escape as well as a homecoming.
